Chelsea re-start negotiations for Everton midfield star Amadou Onana
Keeping up with their earlier interest, Chelsea has re-started talks over the signing of Everton midfielder Amadou Onana in the summer transfer window.
According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, (h/t Football.London) Chelsea are once again in the race to sign Onana and are now showing strong interest in securing hsi services this time.
The Blues had been interested in signing the Belgian midfielder for months and now appear to have rekindled it. The youngster was one of the few positives from an otherwise horrendous season for the Toffees.
Now the West Londoners are once again looking to open talks over his signing. The 21-year-old was one of the best players for the Toffees, helping them escape relegation on the final day of the season.
His impressive performance caught the eye of the Blues, who held talks with his entourage, but instead went on to sign Enzo Fernandez in the winter window. As per the report, Chelsea could sign the youngster as he is looking to leave the Toffees in the summer window.
The Blues need a defensive midfielder following the imminent departure of N’Golo Kante to the middle east. With Mateo Kovacic also set to leave, there is a huge hole in the middle of the park that needs to be filled.
Chelsea are also interested in signing Moises Caicedo, but Brighton Hove & Albion are demanding a high price for the midfielder. Onana could be a backup option for Caicedo if we fail to sign the Ecuadorian in the summer window.
The 21-year-old featured in 35 Premier League games this season and was fantastic, demonstrating how crucial he has been to the Toffees’ success thus far. While far from the finished product, his athleticism and awareness make him an excellent prospect.

While Caicedo and Onana both the same age, the former is a more well-rounded player and is higher up the development charts right now. Caicedo would walk into the Chelsea midfield while Onana will take some tweaking.
However, if we fail to sign Caicedo, then Onana is a decent replacement. He is young, and with games, he will certainly get better.
