Romano says Chelsea are still ‘100%’ in the race to sign upcoming South American star

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Moises Caicedo is only in talks to join Chelsea.

Chelsea are 100% in the race to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo this summer

As per a tweet from transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, nothing has changed in the transfer pursuit of Chelsea to sign Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.

It is also revealed that irrespective of what happens with the Manuel Ugarte transfer, Chelsea will try their best to get Caicedo in the summer transfer window.

The Guardian has updated that the Blues are plotting a double move to bolster their midfield department. The names of Ugarte and Caicedo is on that list.

The latter report reveals that Brighton value Caicedo at a higher price. They would want to hold out to something in the region of £80m. The Seagulls are perennially tough negotiators in the transfer market.

The Ecuador international, who was Chelsea’s target in the January window, signed a new contract with his current club after that transfer window.

The feeling is that a new contract was offered with a mutual understanding that the player will stay till the end of this season before asking to leave the club.

Chelsea could do with a midfield revamp after overseeing the potential departure of Mateo Kovacic. Ruben Loftus-Cheek is also close to moving to AC Milan while Mason Mount has agreed to personal terms with Manchester United.

Caicedo could be an ideal addition to the squad because he is not only a very good and versatile midfielder, but has done well at right-back in the last few games for Brighton.

More Chelsea News:

The Ecuadorian star possesses everything an elite central midfielder must have. He is good on the ball, can progress with it, can create chances, reads the game well to make defensive interceptions and can run all day long for the team to cover the necessary gaps. Chelsea must get him early before it becomes a transfer race with other clubs potentially joining the race.
