Chelsea set strict price tag for Manchester United target Mason Mount

published :

Chelsea are increasingly confident that Mason Mount will accept a new contract.

Chelsea won’t sell Mason Mount for anything less £70m amidst Manchester United interest

As per Evening Standard, Chelsea are set to hold out for a transfer fee of up to £70m for Mason Mount amidst grave interest from Manchester United.

Roughly about 30 hours ago, the Blues rejected an opening bid of £40m from United for the England international. The Red Devils could walk away from the deal if their price valuation isn’t met.

But, the latest report reveals that United will come up with a better offer. Whether that is even close to what Chelsea want, it remains to be seen.

We all know that Mount’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires next summer. He hasn’t signed a new deal with his boyhood despite getting several offers due to wage issues.

Now, the question is how long can Chelsea play the hardball game with their transfer price for a player who might leave for free next summer if a sale does not happen this time around or in January.

As the days ago, it might unnerve the Blues to lower the price to an extent that could be feasible for all parties involved. To be fair, that would be a decent solution because Chelsea need money from player sales to make the necessary signings in the transfer window.

Hence, taking time to sell one of your assets will only delay your activity of signing players. United’s first offer of £40m was embarrassing though. Mount is valued more than that irrespective of his contract situation at Chelsea. If their new offer is close to £55m, the Blues should accept that and start thinking about how to put that money into good usage.

More Chelsea News:

The summer window began a couple of days, a lot is expected to happen in the coming weeks. The Mount-United-Chelsea saga might linger for a few more days it seems. Hopefully, the pressure to sell a wantaway player and the need to balance their books makes the Blues adjust to Manchester United’s terms.
