Chelsea and Inter Milan will discuss Romelu Lukaku’s future after Champions League final
After the UEFA Champions League final, Chelsea and Inter Milan will have discussions regarding Romelu Lukaku’s future, as the Belgian is expected to move back to west London.
The former Everton forward will compete for Inter Milan against Manchester City in the Champions League final on Saturday night in Istanbul.
Despite having a sluggish start to the season after being loaned out to a Serie A team, Lukaku has found his form just in time for the biggest game of his career.
The 29-year-old was signed by Chelsea in the summer of 2021 for £100m but failed to impress and also lost his place in Thomas Tuchel’s plans. He was then loaned out for a season to I Nerazzurri.
It is said that Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Chelsea, wants to give Romelu Lukaku another shot while still trying to recruit another attacker. The former Manchester United striker wants to stay at Inter and has no plans to go back to West London at this time.
When asked about Lukaku’s future in an interview with UK media, (h/t Daily Mail) Inter chief Giuseppe Marotta responded:
‘’Romelu Lukaku is not only a good player but also an excellent professional. As you know, he is on a loan deal with Inter. That ends on June 30, and he will go back to Chelsea. We don’t know what his future will be. Further down the line, we will talk about it with Chelsea.’’
It makes very little sense at all to keep a player who isn’t passionate about representing Chelsea since he won’t play with the same intensity as he does for Inter. Instead, it would be prudent to find his future elsewhere, and we should look for a top-tier young striker.

It’s best to cut our losses and try to get as much as we can from Inter for him. Hopefully, he bags a goal or two against our big six rivals Manchester City to ensure that Inter are sentimentally inclined towards buying him from our hands.
