Chelsea are close to signing young Brazil and Santos winger Angelo Gabriel

As per Evening Standard, Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign young Brazil and Santos winger Angelo Gabriel for a deal of around £15m this summer.

The 18-year-old has been referred to as one of the highly-talented young wingers in Brazil. He is going to complete a move to Stamford Bridge in the coming days.

Angelo is a left-footed winger who prefers to play on the right, but is comfortable operating on the other side and playing as an attacking midfielder if required.

The youngster has made 129 appearances in all competitions for Santos, having made his debut three years ago. He has scored five goals and assisted 10 in the process (Transfermarkt).

Angelo possesses great pace to unsettle any defender with runs in behind. He is an excellent dribbler and can be tricky for fullbacks to deal with. It would be great if he starts to add more numbers to the goals and assists column in the coming years.

Once the Brazil U-20 international does that, he adds a different dimension to his game which makes him not just difficult to defend, but also tough to stop adding numbers to the scoreboard.

Although signing a winger might not be on top of Chelsea’s shortlist for this summer window, it is always good to get tricky young Brazilian wingers on board and hope that they develop well before making a case to start first-team games regularly.

The price mentioned is not a huge one, hence the Blues can afford to sign Angelo, get him into the youth side for the coming season and then focus on making other additions to the squad as soon as possible. Mauricio Pochettino might want them done this way so that he has time to integrate new players into the squad for the pre-season.
