Transfer News: Brighton are preparing ‘record bid’ for Chelsea starlet

Brighton Hove & Albion weighing offering another bid to sign Chelsea starlet Levi Colwill

Brighton Hove & Albion, (h/t Daily Mail) are considering a move for Chelsea centre-back Levi Colwill that might cost up to £40 million.

Earlier, West Londoners turned down a £30 million Seagulls approach for the 20-year-old defender, who had a fantastic loan spell at Brighton and helped the team advance to the Europa League.

However, the Seagulls are currently interested in purchasing the centre back, but the Blues are unwilling to sell him permanently.

Brighton are prepared to put Chelsea to the test and are set to offer a new club-record bid for the south coast club. Chelsea have decided to integrate Colwill, 20, into their project for the upcoming season as a result of the player’s performance following his loan stint at Brighton.

Chelsea are interested in Moises Caicedo, a superb midfielder for the Seagulls, but the team has set a minimum asking price of £80 million. The Blues explored giving Colwill another loan to Brighton in exchange for Caicedo’s permanent signing, but that hasn’t happened.

The depth of Chelsea’s defence will strengthen with Colwill’s comeback and we can definitely use his services in the present and the future given our situation at the back.

Colwill’s being loaned out was a very smart move made by the Blues since it allowed the 20-year-old to develop into a seasoned defender and gain Premier League experience. He is now fully equipped to compete in the English Premier League, we ought to preserve him, and Chelsea should never sell him.

Keeping Colwill should be vital since he will be a key player for next season. Benoit Badiashila and Wesley Fofana were signed since the end of last season and hence, offer us surety at the back in the long run when it comes to their futures.

More Chelsea News:

But Kalidou Koulibaly has been seriously out of form since his arrival from Napoli, while Thiago Silva is clearly at the end of his playing days. Trevoh Chalobah’s quality has dwindled but he can still do a job as a backup centre-back. Colwill, hence, shouldn’t have a lot of problem getting senior minutes once he returns to SW6.

Selling him permanently would be foolish, unless the Seagulls offer an insane amount of money.
