Ruben Loftus-Cheek of Chelsea will have to supposedly take a major pay cut if he wants to join AC Milan.
This is according to the Evening Standard, who claim that AC Milan want to add Loftus-Cheek to their squad but the player is reluctant to leave Stamford Bridge. Milan, of course, have done business with Chelsea in recent years.
Fikayo Tomori, Olivier Giroud and Tiemoue Bakayako have all left Chelsea to play for I Rossoneri. Loftus-Cheek apparently pockets a big amount in wages – £150,000 a week, to be precise.
And that is, of course, proving to be a hurdle in Chelsea’s plans of offloading him. That is why, reducing his salary is the only way for a potential move to happen.
It makes sense. The 27-year-old’s stocks aren’t that high considering he has, time and again, failed to cement himself as a regular starter for us.
He has all the raw skills needed to be a very, very good box-to-box midfielder, but Chelsea have just had more accomplished, talented and experienced players in those positions.
Chelsea apparently want to offload a number of players to balance their books and clear out the squad. Mauricio Pochettino is tipped to be our next manager and much can depend on him when it comes to our transfer strategies.
For Loftus-Cheek, a move to Italy can work in his favour, as it has for Tomori. He is at an age where he needs regular playing time and it seems hard to come at SW6.
