A View From The Bridge

31-year-old Brazilian says he ‘dreams’ of a return to Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino

Oscar reveals his dream of making a come back to Chelsea under new manager Mauricio Pochettino

Former Chelsea forward Oscar has revealed his dream of coming back to the club under the new incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The 31-year-old Brazilian initially came to Chelsea in the summer of 2012 from Internacional. He moved to a Chinese club Shanghai Port in January 2017.

During his first spell at Stamford Bridge, Oscar made 203 appearances while scoring 38 goals and assisting 36. He won the Europa League with the club in 2013.

Here’s what the Brazil international said when asked about a possible return to Chelsea and his thoughts on Pochettino (h/t Talksport, via Evening Standard):

“It’s of course a dream to come back to Chelsea. I have a lot of good memories from there… I still have dreams to play for this team. So if I can come back to Europe or to Chelsea, then hopefully we can talk.

“He’s a good coach, he works very hard and Pochettino has a strong team, they play like a team normally.”

Although it is great to know that a great player like Oscar is willing to come back to the club, there is probably no space for him in the current squad given the amount of signings made in the last two transfer windows.

So, when the summer window starts, the first job the club has is to cut down the numbers in the squad before deciding on who to sign.

The incoming boss Pochettino and his staff would have to quickly make a decision on which players they want to take forward and which ones to sell/let go.

Oscar plays in a position where the Blues have plenty of options even if they sell a few. What the club need to do is expend a lot of energy in buying a striker in the summer.

More Chelsea News:

Getting a player who can consistently score 25+ goals per season should be on their agenda all summer long. With no European football to offer, the task may have gotten tougher, but the lure of Pochettino and Chelsea should make a difference. The offering of a healthy financial package may help the cause too.
