Olivier Giroud urges Chelsea star Christian Pulisic to join him at AC Milan
According to the Metro, AC Milan star Olivier Giroud is keen to reignite his partnership with Chelsea star Christian Pulisic at the San Siro in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The USMNT star was one of the most exciting talents in the Bundesliga during his stint with Borussia Dortmund. Pulisic moved to Chelsea in the summer of 2019 and despite moments of pure magic has failed to develop himself into a consistent performer.
The 24-year-old has so far made 142 appearances for the Blues, scoring 26 goals and assisting 21 more. Some would argue that he has failed to develop his game further and is still far from the finished product.
Despite his undoubted ability, Pulisic’s tryst with injuries makes him a liability of sorts. To put things into context, he has missed 54 matches for the Blues owing to a variety of injury setbacks.
His future at the club is now in question following the club’s recent acquisitions. The trio of Raheem Sterling, Mykhaylo Mudryk, and Noni Madueke all arrived at the Bridge recently and are arguably ahead of Pulisic in the pecking order.
The American can be considered expendable and could be on his way out as Chelsea seek to cash in on their fringe stars. Doing so should help them balance the books, especially ahead of a season with no European football.
A former teammate of his, Olivier Giroud is keen for the 24-year-old to move to the San Siro. The French veteran shared the pitch with Pulisic at Stamford Bridge and is now seeking a reunion.
“He’s a big name in Europe, so that would help us. He is that kind of player with great skills, with great talent.”
Giroud went on to compare Pulisic to Eden Hazard while simultaneously giving a positive appraisal of his relationship with the American on the pitch. It appears to be a partnership the striker is keen to reignite and believes they could succeed at Milan.
“Our understanding on the pitch was also excellent, a bit like with Eden Hazard, even though I played less with Christian. We knew how to find each other.”

A move away from Chelsea could help Pulisic reignite his career and get it back on track. Milan are overreliant on Rafael Leao for attacking impetus and the Portuguese winger’s absence was felt strongly in the UEFA Champions League loss to Inter Milan in midweek.
Pulisic not only has the potential but also the motivation to get his career back on track. A move to the San Siro might prove to be a win-win situation for all parties.
