Micah Richards claims Chelsea’s appointment of Mauricio Pochettino will soon end their miserable run
Micah Richards supports Mauricio Pochettino’s hiring by Chelsea and predicts the team’s disappointing run will soon come to an end under his management.
Pochettino has signed a contract to become Chelsea’s next manager and the club will soon make the announcement. Under Todd Boehly’s leadership, the Blues have fired two managers and are presently led by interim manager Frank Lampard.
The choice of Pochettino as Chelsea’s head coach for the next campaign is thought to have been well-received by the team.
Since being fired by Paris Saint-Germain in 2021, the former Southampton manager has been without a club in the meantime.
And Richards fully supports his appointment and feels he is the ideal manager for Chelsea, (h/t Metro) who can turn things around while speaking to the Daily Mail:
‘‘A miserable season for Chelsea will soon be over, and I will say this now: it will not be repeated next year. Mauricio Pochettino is an outstanding appointment and will make them competitive. There are some big decisions to make with the squad, but he is inheriting talent. They could take off.”
We’ve experienced one of the worst seasons in our recent history, and hopefully, Richards’ assertion that Pochettino is a manager who can turn around the team is accurate. The 51-year-old will need some time to find the right mix and players who can provide the results, so it won’t be a simple task or quick fix.
His hiring could be viewed as Chelsea moving in the correct direction, despite our dismal season, and the Argentinean boss may be just what we need. It is an important coup at a time when the club needs stability and experience at the top.

We have quality players in every age group for Poch to pick and choose from. Hopefully, he is also allowed to get a few players of his liking into the team this summer. Even if it takes a season to rebuild, Chelsea fans won’t mind it, as long as there is marked improvement.
