Manchester United in advanced negotiations to land Brazilian superstar on Chelsea’s radar

Manchester United are in advanced talks to sign Chelsea target Neymar

Manchester United are in advanced discussions with Paris Saint-Germain about signing Chelsea target Neymar in the upcoming summer transfer window.ext season.

According to the French newspaper L’Equipe, (h/t Football.London) United could beat Chelsea to the signing of Neymar since they are in advanced talks with PSG. The Brazilian is one of the best players in the world and despite his age has several good years left in him.

Following the fans’ protest staged in front of his house, the 31-year-old is now considering leaving the Ligue 1 club. Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is a major fan of the former Barcelona player and is interested in bringing him to Stamford Bridge.

However, given the Blues’ failure to qualify for the Champions League, Neymar might favour joining United over Chelsea. United, however, and manager Erik Ten Hag are interested in a loan transfer for the Brazilian winger instead of a permanent deal.

The Brazilian star was having a great season with PSG until suffering an ankle injury that forced him to miss the rest of the season. The 31-year-old has 13 goals and 11 assists in 20 Ligue 1 outings.

However, Chelsea’s wishlist for the summer is a prolific striker, a holding midfielder, and a goalkeeper. If they are able to get Neymar, they will have to pay his high wages. More so, given his injury record, the Samba star cannot guarantee regular availability.

Another reason could be that he would disturb the dressing room and restrict the game time of other young players since he would want to play on a regular basis. Neymar also has the propensity to be caught in the headlights by the press, meaning it could distract us from on the field performances.

His signing, though, would be a coup for Chelsea as Neymar is among the elite players of his generation. A proven goalscorer, he is exactly what the Blues lack.

With the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino, he will be able to adapt to his system, having already played under the Argentine manager at PSG. Whether he will be ready to join a side that doesn’t have European football for a season is debatable.
