According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, (h/t Football Italia), Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have deployed scouts to monitor former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham.
United and PSG talent scouts were reportedly observing Abraham, who played in the AS Roma vs. Inter Milan game. He had a mixed game but they were reportedly impressed by his performance.
Abraham was signed by Roma for €40 million with incentives, where he thrived under former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho. The Stamford Bridge team also kept a £70.3million buy-back clause. The clubs who want to sign the 25-year-old must meet his clause, according to the Serie A team.
The England international scored 30 goals in 82 games while playing for Chelsea, but he was traded to Roma after Thomas Tuchel was recruited.
Romelu Lukaku was brought in by Chelsea to take his position, but the Belgian failed to establish himself and is now on loan to Inter Milan. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was next signed by the Blues, which was another disappointing signing.
Chelsea, which have remained a pedestrian team in front of goal, are presently searching for a proven striker for next season. Whether Abraham is that man is debatable.
Tammy has developed into a superb striker, and if he joins either team, he will undoubtedly have a positive impression. He was productive during his first season with Roma but slowed down the following year, scoring just eight goals in 32 Serie A appearances.
He can score more goals at PSG, which is a nice option because Ligue 1 isn’t as competitive as the Premier League. He can also make a difference at United if Erik Ten Hag handles him effectively there.
However, it may be an entirely different matter if he joins PSG or United because he could become more successful there as well if their managers use him properly. We hope he chooses PSG since no former team would want him to join a rival club and flourish there.
