Frank Lampard to hand Chelsea star Noni Madueke more opportunities following Arsenal showing
Frank Lampard praised Chelsea star Noni Madueke for his performance against Arsenal and indicated that he will give the attacker more opportunities in the upcoming matches.
The Blues lost against Arsenal 3-1, although Madueke, who began the game, scored the team’s consolation goal—his first since joining from PSV.
While senior players were unable to have an influence on the game, Madueke showed flashes of his brilliance and challenged Arsenal players one-on-one. He used his technical skills to get behind the Arsenal defence before slipping the ball past Aaron Ramsdale from Mateo Kovacic’s cross.
As interim manager, Lampard suffered his sixth defeat in his first six games, and Chelsea are now 12th in the standings as they next face Bournemouth on Saturday. Surely we cannot be sucked into the relegation dogfight now.
And the 44-year-old Chelsea boss gave Madueke high marks for his performance while teasing that he would have more opportunities in Chelsea’s upcoming matches, (h/t Metro)
‘’I’m not going to comment on individuals in the game. Let’s talk about the collective. It’s a performance. If I want to talk about an individual, it’s Noni, who scored the goal and plays how he’s been training. He’ll get a lot more opportunities.’’
Although we did not play as a team and lost the games, our young players showed promise. The 21-year-old demonstrated what he is worthy of when given the chance by scoring the goal. Surely he will now get more opportunities to impress.
In addition to being brilliant, Mykhaylo Mudryk had a greater effect than Raheem Sterling and generated three more chances than any other player o the pitch.
