“Not easy”- Frank Lampard coy on Benoit Badiashile and Noni Madueke’s chances to start for Chelsea

Frank Lampard encourages Chelsea star Noni Madueke to chase consistency.

Frank Lampard answers if Benoit Badiashile and Noni Madueke will play more for Chelsea in the remaining games

When questioned if Benoit Badiashile and Noni Madueke deserve to play the remainder of the game, Frank Lampard responded that he will have to give everyone equal playing time for the remaining games this season.

After six straight losses, Chelsea’s duo contributed significantly to the Blues’ 3-1 victory over Bournemouth, which marked the team’s first victory under interim manager Lampard.

With a tap-in from Ziyech Cross, Badialshile gave the Blues the lead as Madueke displayed his prowess on the right side. However, it was the former PSV Eindhoven player’s second start, as he had started in Chelsea’s 3-1 loss to Arsenal, where he also scored his first goal.

And in an interview with the club’s official website, (h/t Football.London) Lampard was asked if Badiashile and Madueke deserve to stay in the starting lineup. The 44-year-old said:

“It’s probably not easy to answer that. To a degree, yeah, but I’ll have to think about Forest and see what the week says. Of course, my role now is to try to give those players minutes to show and grow a little bit in the team.”

“But also, as much as there’s that, I have to work with all the players, and they all have to respect what I’m trying to do. So if they’re training well, there are other players who will be pushing those players too, so they do need to have a level of performance.”

It would be absurd to not use Madueke and Badiashile in the remaining games, as they indicated they should start every game until the season ends. And when given the chance, they played with more determination. On the right side, the former PSV Eindhoven player posed a threat, and the French international provided steel at the back.

Additionally, as they play more games, they will gain experience that will undoubtedly boost their confidence for the upcoming season under a new boss. We have nothing to lose this season, so why not start two impressive youngsters and give them the experience they need before the start of the new season?

There are just 270 minutes on offer for Chelsea players in the remainder of the season. Lampard’s words don’t offer much confidence with regard to their chances but let us hope the former Everton manager continues to trust the young duo who are slowly becoming fan favourites in SW6.
