Fabrizio Romano reveals Mauricio Pochettino has urged Chelsea to sign Manuel Ugarte

According to Fabrizio Romano, Mauricio Pochettino, the new manager of Chelsea, has given the go-ahead for the acquisition of Manuel Ugarte. The Blues may make the Uruguayan their first transfer under the new boss next summer.

The Sporting CP midfielder has drawn interest from elite European teams like Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Liverpool as a result of his excellent performances. He appears ready to move to a bigger club and hopefully, it is Chelsea who will win the race.

The Blues are willing to exercise the 22-year-old’s £52 million release clause in order to bring him to Stamford Bridge. In many ways, the seriousness we are showing is promising.

Pochettino, meanwhile, has been named the manager of the West Londoners and is anticipated to take over at Chelsea starting next week. Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano updated Twitter on the Ugarte transfer move and claimed:

“Understand that Manuel Ugarte has been approved as a target also by Chelsea coach Mauricio Pochettino. Chelsea are pushing for talks with club and player sides, including Jorge Mendes’. PSG’s proposal is still valid on the table. No decision yet, but Chelsea will keep insisting.”

Ugarte can reach the top level under Pochettino, who believes he can be an ideal defensive midfielder for Chelsea next season. With N’Golo Kante’s future at the club far from certain, it is a position that needs addressing.

The Uruguayan will seem to be thrown into the starting lineup next season. If we are able to sign him before the start of the new season, then we will have time to adjust to Pochettino’s system during pre-season.

However, if Kante chooses to extend his deal, it will be advantageous for the 22-year-old to initially serve as a backup midfielder given that it will take him some time to adjust to life in the Premier League. The sooner we bring him in, the quicker his bedding in period.
