Fabrizio Romano confirms Chelsea interest in 22-year-old Bundesliga star

Fabrizio Romano confirms Chelsea are keeping an eye on Manu Kone

Chelsea are keeping an eye on Manu Kone, who has emerged as one of European football’s talented youngers midfielder, according to Fabrizio Romano via GiveMeSport.

The 22-year-old is now enjoying his most productive stint at Borussia Monchengladbach, and it is expected that the club will allow him to leave for £26 million next summer. According to Christian Falk of the Bild, the 22-year-old is likely to move to Real Madrid or Chelsea.

With Chelsea lacking a defensive midfielder, Kone would be an excellent choice if they were unable to sign Declan Rice or Moises Caicedo. The 22-year-old is talented enough to develop into a dominant midfielder and we can steal on our rivals should we land him next summer.

Meanwhile, the Blues’ present midfield has a volatile future since N’Golo Kante’s contract expires at the end of this season. More so, Denis Zakaria’s loan runs out at the end of the campaign and he should return to Juventus.

Meanwhile, Conor Gallagher may leave in the summer, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek is now closing in on a move to AC Milan. While on the Kone transfer update and if Blues want to sign the youngster, speaking exclusively to GIVEMESPORT, Romano said:

“They also have other options on the list. For example, they have an eye on Manu Kone, who is doing very well at Borussia Monchengladbach, but there are also other clubs interested.”

Kone is a dynamic midfielder who may operate as a number eight or a number six, but he feels more at ease as a number six right now because he is in his best form as an interior and defensive midfielder.

In that department, the 22-year-old has an impressive 87% pass completion record in the Bundesliga, averaging 2.5 interceptions and 7.4 battles won per game. He has the potential to be a dominant presence in the middle of the park.

However, there is a significant difference between playing in the Bundesliga and the Premier League. If we are able to sign him, he will undoubtedly require some time to acclimatise to the league.

More Chelsea News:

As a result, before making any decisions, we will need to examine the proposal. Rice and Caicedo are our main acquisitions, and if we don’t get them, Kone could be an alternative signing.
