Fabrizio Romano gives his verdict on Chelsea’s chances of retaining in-demand English ace

Fabrizio Romano reveals Chelsea will struggle to retain the services of Mason Mount

Fabrizio Romano on AMP via football.london reported that the future of Mason Mount at Chelsea is increasingly unsure as the midfielders inches closer to the Stamford Bridge exit door.

Despite numerous discussions, Chelsea and Mount have been unable to strike an agreement regarding a contract extension. This is despite the fact that the 24-year-old has only one year left on his deal. There is now the real possibility that Mount could leave for free in a year’s time.

Romano has now thrown a bombshell on Chelsea fans, revealing that Mount may move in the summer transfer window. It would appear the 24-year-old has played his last game for the Blues.

If Mount does not extend his contract, Chelsea will be obliged to sell him, with Liverpool and Manchester United showing interest. The Italian journalist said in an interview that Mount is close to leaving.

“Speaking to some sources today, it is going to be very difficult to extend Mason Mount; it is really complicated.”

Meanwhile, the England international has struggled with form this season after missing the majority of the season due to injury. The 24-year-old just underwent abdominal surgery and is already back on the field. Chelsea are hopeful that the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino will help the midfielder reconsider his choice, and Pochettino is also intent on keeping Mount at Chelsea.

The former Tottenham Hotspur boss will take over as Chelsea manager next season. It remains to be seen if the 24-year-old will be a part of the Argentine’s revolution.

Even though he is an academy graduate, the player will act in his own best interests. If he believes the club is not providing him with the salary he deserves, Mount will almost definitely leave and join a different team that is providing him with better wages. Such is the nature of the modern sport.

Although Mount has the option to make an exception and stay at Chelsea, it appears that he doesn’t trust the present management of the Blues, and we are also unable to compel him to do so.

Although both sides can come to an agreement it, but ultimately boils down to personal preference, so if Mount leaves, he will still carry a piece of Chelsea with him.
