Everton willing to sell star man on Chelsea’s radar if relegated

Everton will sell Chelsea target Amadou Onana if they get relegated from the Premier League

According to The Sun (h/t Football.London), Everton are prepared to sell Amadou Onana if they are relegated from the Premier League this season with Chelsea and Arsenal interested in acquiring his services.

With two games remaining, Everton are fighting to avoid the relegation zone, as they currently sit 17th in the league. Should Leicester City defeat Liverpool later today, the pressure will likely be back on the Blues’ back.

Despite defeating Brighton Hove & Albion 5-1, the Toffees were unable to continue their winning streak as they fell to Manchester City 3-0. The Blues faithful now face a nervy end to the Premier League campaign.

Meanwhile, the 21-year-old Onana has remained a regular starter for Everton, appearing in 31 Premier League matches. He has been one of the rare good sparks in what has been a poor season.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have had their own issues this season as they sacked two managers under the Todd Boehly regime. The club is currently operating under Frank Lampard, who has overseen just one victory in his eight games as interim manager. They sit 11th in the table and have three games to play before their season ends.

Mauricio Pochettino is expected to take charge of the club next season, and there will be several reinforcements needed in the summer window. Chelsea will be looking to sign a quality striker, a holding midfielder, and a goalkeeper.

At just 21, Onana is quickly establishing himself as a crucial midfielder for Everton this season. He has played in nearly every game. If we are successful in signing him, we will have a midfielder who is well-versed in the Premier League and won’t need much time to acclimatise to a new league.

Plus, there will be less burden on N’Golo Kante to play in every game as Onana can be his backup before settling well at the club.

And with Pochettino becoming our next manager following the season, it would help the 21-year-old a lot under his management.
