According to the Athletic, (subscription required) (h/t Metro) Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is considering a move to Manchester United.

Since contract negotiations with Chelsea fell through, the 24-year-old has been in high demand on the market. The England international has only one year left on his contract, and Manchester United are said to have offered £55 million pounds for the midfielder.

Arsenal and Liverpool are also interested, although the midfielder is preferring a move to United. The Red Devils are likely to begin negotiations with the midfielder soon.

However, with United still in talks about a new owner, nothing is guaranteed. The club can only make a transfer after the new owner is decided before the end of the season.

Mauricio Pochettino, on the other hand, wants the midfielder to stay at Chelsea because he wants to include Mount in his plan for next season. If Chelsea and Mount are unable to strike an agreement, Chelsea will demand at least £80 million from his transfer.

Furthermore, the 24-year-old has played infrequently due to an abdominal issue but has lately returned to grass training following surgery. He has featured in 24 Premier League matches in the current campaign so it is safe to say that he is still finding playing time here.

It appears that convincing Mount to stay at the club is now out of reach. Furthermore, he hasn’t even hit his prime yet. It will be painful to see him realise his potential in the colours of a rival but that’s football.
