Barcelona are set to sign Brazilian striker and Chelsea target Vitor Roque
As per Football.London (in reference to reports), Chelsea are set to lose out on signing the young Brazil striker Vitor Roque as Barcelona close in on getting him.
Roque is one of the sought-after strikers in the South American game, who has been tracked by several clubs in Europe, including Chelsea.
The 18-year-old is a striker who can operate as a winger on either side if required. He has got eight goals and four assists in 19 appearances in the current season for Athletico PR.
Roque was also part of the Brazil squad in the U20 South American Championship that took place in January. He scored six goals and assisted one in eight games in that competition.
Chelsea must sign a centre-forward in the coming summer window. The Guardian reported a few days ago that they are eyeing a move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. Whether attracting the Nigerian is possible with no European football next season, remains to be seen.
The Blues have struggled for goals from their forwards in the last few years. They signed Romelu Lukaku in the summer of 2021, but the Belgian struggled and was loaned back to Inter Milan last summer.
If Chelsea are to progress under the incoming boss Mauricio Pochettino, signing a number one who can score 25+ goals per season consistently is a must.
Pochettino had Harry Kane when he was at Tottenham Hotspur. Can the Blues give him a number nine of that sort to build the team around? The hope is that is the case.

Missing out on Roque might be bad news for the future, but it shouldn’t be too hard to fathom given that they need a striker who can come and hit the ground running immediately.
