Chelsea among the Premier League clubs to battle for the signature of Dusan Vlahovic
As per 90min (h/t Express), Chelsea are among the four Premier League clubs to battle it out for the signature of Juventus and Serbia striker Dusan Vlahovic.
The report states that the former Fiorentina marksman is unsettled in Turin and is looking for a move away from Italy. Other than Chelsea, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester United would be involved in the transfer race if the player becomes available.
In January 2021, Vlahovic rejected a £62m move to the Gunners and went to Juventus instead. While his numbers there are decent, the team and the club have been in a mess currently, despite the lifting of the 15-point deduction.
Manchester United clearly need a striker and Erik ten Hag has talked about it in distinct terms. Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst aren’t good enough to lead the line.
Chelsea, on the other hand, do not have a number nine in the squad right now. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is there, but he is playing like an anonymous creature. He is set to leave the club in the summer.
Romelu Lukaku will come back once his loan spell at Inter Milan ends in the summer. Although Daily Mail reported that the incoming Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino will aim to hand the Belgian a lifeline at Stamford Bridge, the player wants to stay in Italy beyond this season.
If that is indeed the case, signing Vlahovic would make a lot of sense. The Serbian has got 13 goals and four assists in 38 appearances in all competitions for Juventus.
The 23-year-old has pace, can run the channels, is good with the ball at his feet, can physically contest against the centre-backs and is a proper poacher in the opposition box.

Chelsea could do with someone like that on a long-term basis. Vlahovic’s age (23) means that he can improve and become an ideal number nine for the Blues in years to come.
