Chelsea may employ Christian Pulisic to entice Victor Osimhen

Christian Pulisic is one of the stars expected to leave Chelsea this summer. However, the USMNT star could be used to entice another forward from overseas.

The star that Chelsea want is none other than on-form Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen. The forward has scored 27 goals this season being the top scorer, helping Italian side Napoli win the Serie A title this season. But he won’t be available for cheap. Other Premier League clubs such as Manchester United also highly covet the striker. Paris Saint Germain and Liverpool are also monitoring the player.

The Nigerian striker is wanted by the Blues this summer, but his high transfer cost may provide difficulties. While the club insists he is not for sale, Napoli could still demand a price tag of up to £130 million to let the Seria A top scorer leave. So Chelsea has decided to employ another method. They are reportedly planning to entice Napoli with a swap deal with Osimhein and Pulisic changing clubs.

Why does Chelsea want to let Christian Pulisic leave?

Before his contract expires this summer, Chelsea is trying to offload a number of players, including the 24-year-old American international who is eager to play more frequently.

Christian Pulisic has had a miserable season to forget. He has had one goal and one assist in 19 games. The arrival of new forwards as a result of the club’s extravagant expenditure means that Pulisic is no longer a starting-guaranteed player. Since moving to the Blues from Dortmund in the summer of 2019, injuries and changing coaches have slowed his progress.

The possibility of his leaving the English club is now being discussed. He is now considered surplus to requirements and could leave for as little as £35 million. The best teams in the world, including Manchester United of the Premier League and Italian powerhouses Juventus, AC Milan, Napoli, and Inter, look to be intrigued by the American talent, enticing their fans to .

How would the deal work?

Napoli, who admires the player very much, could sell Osimhein to Chelsea for a discounted price in exchange for Pulisic joining them instead. However, if Pulisic does not leave, Chelsea could let another striker leave instead of him. Romelu Lukaku, who joined Chelsea for a fee of £115 million in 2021, failed to live up to expectations. He was allowed to return to Inter Milan on loan the following season. The Belgian could also be part of the swap deal with Napoli.

Whatever happens with Chelsea, it seems that Victor Osimhein is set to leave Napoli this summer, with the upcoming transfer window sure to give us all a lot of surprising developments.
