Premier League giants ‘favourites’ to sign 24-year-old Chelsea star on Arsenal’s radar

John Terry feels Mason Mount is a Chelsea boy despite his move to Manchester United.

Liverpool ‘favourites’ to sign Chelsea star and Arsenal target Mason Mount

Liverpool are apparently ‘favourites’ to sign Chelsea midfielder and Arsenal transfer target Mason Mount.

This is according to the Evening Standard, which mentions the two Premier League giants’ interest in the England international. He is yet to renew his deal at Stamford Bridge.

As a result, Mount could leave SW6 this summer if the Blues understand that he doesn’t want to pen fresh terms and if they don’t want to lose the 24-year-old on a free transfer.

Mount is currently sidelined from action after undergoing surgery for a pelvic issue. If he does leave this summer, then he may have played his last game in Chelsea blue.

What next for Mount?

Today could have been a chance for Arsenal to scout the Englishman closely as Chelsea prepare to take on Arsenal in the Premier League on Tuesday night (May 2). He will, of course, not be available for the game.

It is certainly taking a long time for the club and Mount to come to an agreement on a new deal. One would imagine that the Blues would want to keep the player beyond the next season as well.

Moving to Arsenal especially could make him a villain for many Chelsea fans. Jorginho, in all fairness, made the switch to the Emirates in January but most Blues fans wouldn’t have been too furious about it as the 31-year-old was at the dusk of his playing days.

More Chelsea News:

A move to Liverpool, meanwhile, will strengthen their ageing and injury-prone midfield. That could directly contribute to their potential rise under Jurgen Klopp next season and come back to bite us in the end, considering Liverpool and Chelsea harbour similar goals.
