Chelsea and Arsenal ready to fight for Aberdeen B youngster Lewis Carroll
According to The Evening Standard, Chelsea have overcome competition from Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund to the signing of talented teenager Kendry Paez from Independiente del Valle. The 16-year-old’s transfer to the Blues was already approved for £17.5 million.
The Blues have signed a very exceptional South American player indeed. However, Paez won’t be permitted to join Chelsea until he turns 18 in 2025.
Following his outstanding performance in the 2022 Next Generation Cup, which caught the interest of European clubs, Paez established a reputation for himself. The teenager is already a member of the senior team for Independiente. The future is bright for him as long as he continues to progress as expected.
Paez’s ascent to the senior level has been striking. The teenager marked his debut for the senior team with a goal in a 3-1 Ecuadorian Serie A victory against Mushuc Runa. The teenager proved the hype is real and he is ready to impress at the senior level.
In doing so, he became the youngest goal scorer in the Ecuadorian league. Santiago Morales’ Independiente director has now confirmed that Chelsea are set to land the player in two years’ time.
“Today, I can say that Kendry Paez, in two years’ time, will go to Chelsea. “We received offers from Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United, but Chelsea were the team that showed the most interest.”
Following his outstanding performance in the Next Generation Cup in Austria in 2022, Paez is currently building a reputation for himself. He may only be 16, but he has enormous potential.
And Chelsea building the club’s multi-club network setup, he may be loaned out to a team where youngsters under the age of 16 are allowed to play, which will also provide him exposure to European football.
He will therefore be entirely equipped to play in Europe’s toughest league (the Premier League) when he joins Chelsea at the age of 18. Paez will become the latest name to join the Blues’ growing list of football prospects.
