“Very happy”- European CEO urges Chelsea to be patient with off-form January signing

Shakhtar Donetsk CEO Serhiy Palkin says Chelsea need to be patient with Mykhaylo Mudryk

According to The Metro, Mykhaylo Mudryk is happy since joining Chelsea, despite having a rough start with the new team. This is as per Serhiy Palkin, CEO of Shakhtar Donetsk.

Chelsea beat Arsenal to the signing of Mudryk, and his arrival was hailed with the hope that he would be the difference-maker for the team. That hasn’t been the case, though, as he hasn’t yet played a full game and has only contributed one assist since his arrival.

Despite the 22-year-old’s respectable performance, Palkin believes Chelsea and the supporters should be patient with Mudryk. Palkin met the youngster last week.

To call Mudryk’s stint at Chelsea so far a failure would be an understatement. He has failed to make the most of his opportunities and more often than not looks lost in possession.

In an interview with Sky Sports, (h/t Metro) the CEO claimed that although Mudryk has little experience in the Premier League, he will eventually be one of Chelsea’s finest players with time.

‘’A week ago in England, I met Mykhailo Mudryk, and he is very happy. He likes everything that is going on [there], he wants to work hard, he wants to show the best.”

“I said from the beginning, I spoke to the owners of Chelsea, and I told them you’ve got a real diamond, but you should be very, very patient. Give this guy time and he will show you what he can bring to the club.”

What Palkin said is undoubtedly accurate, and the team and fans need to exercise patience. We signed the 22-year-old because we could see potential in him, and since joining Chelsea, he has undoubtedly displayed flashes of his talent. However, for him to realise his full potential, he will need a season and the right manager.

Given that Frank Lampard wanted him at Everton, perhaps he could bring out the best in him. Managers are crucial in identifying a player’s genuine potential.

Also, he plays in one of the top leagues now and it is logical that he would need some time to get used to this environment. The quicker he can discover his feet, the better for all parties involved.
