Expert reveals Mauricio Pochettino’s important dressing room requesting from Chelsea owner Todd Boehly

Julien Laurens reveals Mauricio Pochettino made dressing room demand from Todd Boegly

According to Julien Laurens, Mauricio Pochettino told Todd Boehly that if he is to become Chelsea’s manager, then he doesn’t want Boehly to enter the team’s dressing room.

After discussions reached their conclusion, the former Paris Saint-Germain manager is now a strong contender to lead Chelsea starting in the 2023–24 campaign. Last week, Julian Nagelsmann withdrew from consideration to give the former Tottenham head coach a clearer route.

The prior time Chelsea played, Boehly did, however, go to the locker room. After the most recent loss to Brighton Hove & Albion, he barged in to discipline the players.

It will, however, come to an end if Pochettino takes over as Chelsea manager in the upcoming campaign, as the subject was raised in conversations with the 51-year-old.

The owner has received a clear message from the former Southampton manager that he does not want involvement in the locker room during games. The topic was told to the European football expert Julien Laurens, (h/t Express), who revealed it to ESPN in his conversation:

“I’m told that they addressed that in the many interviews that Pochettino had with Boehly and the sporting directors. That was addressed, and rightly so, I think. Boehly knows that Pochettino’s personality doesn’t allow any kind of interference from the ownership or anything like that.”

Given that the players psychologically prepare themselves for the game and don’t want distractions, the dressing room is a hallowed space where the manager doesn’t want anybody intruding. We have frequently seen in videos how intense the mood is in the locker room and how the athletes are totally concentrated.

And Pochettino doesn’t want that to happen because if the owner entered the changing room, it would divert the players’ attention. As Roman Abramovich allowed managers complete control of transfers and other matters, we never witnessed these occurrences throughout his tenure.

More Chelsea News:

It is important that a clear distinction is made about where the bucks stop. The players are answerable to the manager and the manager should then be answerable to the owner. If the middle man is eliminated here, players could be confused about how much authority the coach actually has in the team. ‘Poch’ is an experienced guy and he will make sure that this issue is addressed properly.
