Journalist claims Chelsea will sell midfield ace to free up funds

Pete O’Rourke believes Chelsea could sacrifice Conor Gallagher in the summer

According to Pete O’Rourke, Chelsea look set to sacrifice English midfielder Conor Gallagher in the summer to boost their transfer budget.

Since returning from his outstanding loan stint at Crystal Palace Gallagher has performed admirably for Chelsea. He scored eight goals and contributed three assists in the Premier League at Palace but hasn’t quite hit the same level at the Bridge.

He has appeared in 29 league games so far this season, scoring twice and assisting once. Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund, and Liverpool are among the clubs interested in signing the midfielder and Chelsea believe they can cash in.

Additionally, Gallagher may have been sold in the summer to help Chelsea raise some money, according to journalist O’Rourke. He remarked in a statement to GiveMeSport:

“It’s going to be a big summer ahead for Chelsea, as we all know, with decisions that they’re going to have to make in the transfer market to balance the squad and make some money to meet FFP regulations.

“Gallagher could be one of the players sacrificed to try and raise some funds. He’s a top player.

“Obviously, he’s been very patient waiting for his chance at Chelsea because he’s had several loan moves before that.” “He’s had more game time under Lampard.”

Gallagher is good but it is debatable if he is a regular starter. Chelsea have a higher pedigree and can afford to sacrifice players such as Gallagher.

Although Gallagher is unquestionably a fantastic midfielder, he has not performed to his full potential for Chelsea; rather, he has been average by midfielder standards, and Chelsea will gain significantly from his trade.

He will also play less if we add another midfielder for the upcoming campaign, and he wouldn’t want to waste his early years warming the bench.

More Chelsea News:

Since selling him to Premier League clubs could hurt us if he succeeds there, we can think about selling him to Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund sounds like a good option, but if they don’t submit a proposal, we have Liverpool and Newcastle United as backup options.
