It is unknown if the Argentine would take over right now or wait until the summer, despite suggestions that the board might bring him in as soon as possible to replace temporary manager Frank Lampard.

Keep in mind, Chelsea’s academy players would mean the ones representing our youth teams. We do have youngsters such as Mykhaylo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, Benoit Badiashile and Enzo Fernandez waiting to explode. But there are the likes of Harvey Vale, Omari Hutchinson, Zak Sturge, Charlie Webster and Lewis Hall, among many others, waiting to make the step up to the senior squad.
