Mauricio Pochettino to influence Chelsea stance on Atletico Madrid loanee Joao Felix

Incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino will be a key figure in deciding the future of Atletico Madrid loanee Joao Felix at Chelsea, according to the Evening Standard.

The Portugal international joined the Blues on a temporary move in the previous transfer window. However, the Stamford Bridge side do not have the option to make the deal permanent next summer.

As a result, Chelsea are contemplating whether to pursue the 23-year-old’s signature once again. Another loan deal is an option for the West London club. The La Liga outfit could be inclined to accept another temporary move for the forward and get his wages off their books.

But if the Blues want to acquire Felix’s services on a permanent basis, then Los Rojiblancos will demand £88 million. However, £68 million is seen as a more realistic price tag.

Although, Pochettino is expected to take over as the new head coach at the Stamford Bridge side. The former Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur manager will have a say in our business next summer.

Felix had an electric start for Chelsea in the Premier League but has quickly faded away. Still, the Portuguese has been one of the most promising players on the pitch for the Blues, even during our recent struggles for positive results.

The 23-year-old has driven our attack since his arrival for Atletico. In Spain, the forward had a falling out with Diego Simeone and lost his place in Los Rojiblancos’ starting lineup this season.

Felix has made 15 appearances in all competitions for the Stamford Bridge side in the current campaign, scoring two goals. As a whole, the West London club have left a lot to be desired in the final third of the pitch.

Therefore, the Portuguese has evidently done enough to deserve a move to Chelsea. However, it remains to be seen whether Pochettino sees the 23-year-old as an integral part of his plans at the Stamford Bridge side.
