51-year-old manager close to being confirmed as Chelsea’s new head coach

Chelsea are close to appointing Mauricio Pochettino as next manager

Chelsea are almost certain to name Mauricio Pochettino as their next manager for the upcoming campaign after productive negotiations and impressing the Blues board.

Todd Boehly was pleased with the former manager of Southampton following extensive pleasant conversations, (h/t Guardian) and it is speculated that Graham Potter’s permanent replacement may be confirmed as soon as possible.

The Blues have not yet hired Pochettino, and it is uncertain if he will take over this season or the next. Since being let go by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), the 51-year-old has been without a club.

There were additional candidates as well, but Julian Nagelsmann removed himself from consideration for the Blues managing position since he thought their hiring procedure was subpar. While Luis Enrique was withdrawn long ago.

Boehly also admires Vincent Kompany, but no talks took place between the manager and the club’s hierarchy.

Frank Lampard has been named Chelsea’s temporary manager for the remainder of the season, as the club is currently in dire straits and in the bottom half of the standings.

It appears that the club had a good impression of Pochettino during their conversations and believes he is the ideal choice to guide the team to success.

Pochettino transformed Tottenham into a significant club, frequently leading them to fourth-place finishes and even the Champions League final with the club’s limited resources, given Daniel Levy is not the type of club chairman who has made significant investments in Spurs.

Although he will undoubtedly have the support of the Chelsea board, his appointment will assist Chelsea’s young roster because he has nurtured numerous young players.

But there are some drawbacks as well. He is a pragmatic tactician as he prefers aggressive pressing and attacking football, but they falter against teams that play with deep blocks. The former Southampton manager is remarkable; he has outperformed many shrewd Premier League managers.

But it will be up to him to turn Chelsea back into a force to be reckoned with, and we need the backing of the supporters to see him build his foundation in SW6. This seems like a safe appointment with minimal risk. Not many fans will be opposed to this if and when it is confirmed.
