Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang liked a post confirming Graham Potter’s dismissal
Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, (h/t Mirror), liked a post confirming Graham Potter’s dismissal after the Blues’ 2-0 loss to Aston Villa.
The defeat saw Chelsea plummet to 11th place in the Premier League and their chances of qualifying for the top four were also entirely dashed. Also, it was the former manager of Brighton Hove and Albion’s 12th loss in 31 games.
Despite giving the 47-year-old their entire backing, their 2-0 loss to the Villans may have been Todd Boehly’s breaking point. Since signing a five-year deal seven months ago, Potter’s time at Chelsea ended sooner rather than later.
Players haven’t yet commented on Potter’s dismissal, although it seems some of them are not sad about his departure, as Chelsea striker Aubameyang liked Potter’s dismissal post, which Chelsea posted on the team’s official Instagram account.
The 33-year-old, meanwhile, has struggled to stand out since joining Chelsea. He was signed under Thomas Tuchel, who was subsequently fired.
The Gabonese striker did not make an impression under the former Swansea City manager, playing only 17 games across all competitions under him and scoring three goals. He was also left off the Champions League roster for the knockout rounds.
In the previous three Premier League games Aubameyang hasn’t participated, but he’ll be looking for playing time under interim boss Bruno Saltor.
Aubameyang may have a personal grudge against Potter, but that is unimportant; what he contributes on the pitch matters. We should concentrate on finishing the season on a high note now that Potter is gone.
In addition, if Saltor decides to deploy the 33-year-old, the Gabonese attacker may receive some playing time and possibly even rediscover his mojo and can prove to be useful until the end of the season.
