Brazilian star Thiago Silva hints at Chelsea dressing room split

Thiago Silva claims that a plethora of poor decisions have caused uncertainty and turmoil in the Chelsea locker room following their elimination from the Champions League by Real Madrid.

It was Frank Lampard’s fourth straight loss in his first four games as Chelsea’s temporary manager. The Blues fell 2-0 in the second leg of the Champions League last eight, losing 4-0 on aggregate.

As they currently lie in 11th position in the Premier League, 17 points behind fourth place, their season is unquestionably over. Apart from pride, there is little else to be salvaged

Todd Boehly will have much to sort out before the start of next season.

It has been challenging for Lampard to instil confidence in players to improve the club’s dismal season despite the size of the roster. For a team having quality and depth, we have fallen well short of expectations.

The Brazilian centre-back believes that the club hierarchy’s lack of decisiveness has contributed to the team’s disappointing season. The club tried to bolster the team by adding a number of players, (h/t Metro) but it failed and caused instability in the locker room. After the defeat to Real Madrid, Silva said:

‘I think the first step has been taken.” An incorrect step, but it has been made. ‘ We can’t blame the managers if we don’t take responsibility. It’s a hard period for the club, with a lot of indecision.”

“Change of ownership, new players arriving—we had to increase the size of the changing room because it didn’t fit the size of the squad.”

It is undeniably true that the signing of a large number of players has made it difficult for managers to find ways to incorporate everyone into the plans. Also the club’s locker room isn’t big enough to accommodate a large number of players, making it difficult for managers address them.

Owners have undoubtedly caused havoc by purchasing players, and some of them have yet to participate in more than two or three games. Boehly has splashed the cash but the questions is if there was any long term vision already in place.

It was only a matter of time before Graham Potter was fired: he had to cope with a large number of players because he wanted every player to have enough playing time, which led to the team performing poorly since he was unable to establish a solid starting eleven. The next manager will have a major challenge on his hands next season.
