Chelsea hunt for new head coach continues as they interview seven managers

Talks with Luis Enrique, Mauricio Pochettino, (h/t Independent), and front-runner Julian Nagelsmann have already started as Chelsea prepares to interview seven managers in an effort to identify a suitable replacement.

Yet it’s known that the former manager of Bayern Munich is the front-runner to take over as Chelsea’s manager. Due to his background, Roberto De Zerbi, who was one of the applicants, has been removed from the list.

Another name has surfaced: Tite, the former manager of Brazil’s World Cup team, is rumoured to have expressed interest.

Should Chelsea appoint Luis Enrique as their new manager?

Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, who are co-sporting directors, will oversee the procedure. Technical director Christopher Vivell will also contribute, with co-owner Todd Boehly providing the final approval.

Chelsea also prefer to name a new manager before the Champions League quarterfinal matchup against Real Madrid on April 12. They dropped to 11th position in the Premier League after their 2-0 loss to Aston Villa, and they will now play Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

Winning the Champions League is arguably our only hope of qualifying for the competition next season. The fact that Potter was fired after the Villa game made him one of Chelsea’s worst managers in club history as he produced the fewest point total of any manager.

Hopefully, the owner picks a manager this time who will have the time and support he needs, along with the players he needs for the summer transfer window. Consistently bad outcomes became too much for the fans and owner, who were forced to decide whether to fire Potter since things were not working out as they should.

Boehly wants to set his own rules at the club then he must adhere to their long-term project guidelines since they cannot take risks of this nature.

More Chelsea News:

One of Boehly’s worst choices was sacking Thomas Tuchel and then hiring Potter, who was fired within seven months. We can only trust that he atones for this error by appointing a qualified manager. Hiring a coach hurriedly just for the Real Madrid fixture can be a mistake.

The financial commitment it takes to bring in a new boss is one thing, but the instability it can cause to keep changing managers is more damaging. Let’s be patient and ride this time out. If Nagelsmann or someone of his ilk comes before that game, then great. If not, let’s bear the consequences and sacrifice this season.
