“Sorry”- Frank Lampard responds to Chelsea legend’s recent criticism

Frank Lampard replied to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba’s statement after the former Chelsea forward said he no longer recognises his club.

Todd Boehly, who invested £300 million in players like Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile and another £200 million in new players in the summer, wants to transform Chelsea into a different team.

These additions have helped a little to yield productive results, and the club has also sacked two managers in the same season. And they have appointed Frank Lampard as interim coach.

Apparently, the owner needs more time to find the right manager to relieve the burden, so the American businessman named Frank Lampard as the temporary manager until the end of the current campaign.

However, Lampard’s hiring has not proven to be fruitful as he has lost his first four games, which is the first occasion since 1993 that Chelsea have lost four straight games.

Even though their season is officially over, they still have seven games left to play as they now occupy the bottom half of the standings.

However, (h/t Mirror), after the 2-0 loss to Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals, the former midfielder was questioned about the opinions of his former teammate Drogba, and Lampard stated:

“They’re Didier’s comments, sorry.”

Drogba is certainly not pleased with how Chelsea are being run now that a new owner has taken over. During his time as a Chelsea player, notably alongside Lampard (what a duo they were!), Roman Abramovich made it a habit to fire managers right away if the results faltered.

While that isn’t the smartest approach in all conditions, Abramovich rarely got his hirings wrong – at least on paper, he made the right calls. Boehly wants to implement his own ideas and create long-term projects involving young players, which is why the majority of the signings have been youngsters.

And Lampard, who has been named Chelsea’s temporary manager, is surely not interested in getting engaged in this verbal brawl since he wants to end his tenure there on a successful note. Moreover, he shared, and probably still shares, a very close bond with the Ivorian off the pitch. He would, hence, recognise that Drogba’s comments were aimed more at the ownership rather than him.
