Chelsea and Arsenal are pushing hard to sign young Brazilian striker Vitor Roque
According to Teamtalk (h/t Football.London), Chelsea and Arsenal are pursuing a move to sign young Brazil striker Vitor Roque, who currently plies his trade at Athletico Paranaense.
Apart from the London rivals, Newcastle United and Barcelona are also interested in the Brazil U20 striker, who starred for the national in U20 South American Championship in January. He scored six goals and assisted one in eight appearances in that competition that the Selecao won. He made his senior debut during the last month’s friendly against Morocco.
Barcelona offered a deal to sign him on loan with an obligation to buy in 2024. Paranaense wants a deal to be done now in the region of around £35.1m.
Chelsea have recently signed a Brazil U20 star when they completed the deal to get Andrey Santos. Santos was the captain of the Brazil U20 side that won the U20 South American Championship three months ago.
Looking at the Blues squad and performances this season, it is obvious that they need to sign a striker or two in the summer. They signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last summer and David Datro Fofana in January. Neither of them has worked to game-changers thus far.
Although we never know because there will be a change in management due to the sacking of Graham Potter last Sunday. Frank Lampard is just here on an interim basis. The new manager arriving in the summer may have different views to what we are thinking at the moment.
Talking about Roque, he is an exceptional young striker with great finishing, sensational speed to break the lines with runs in behind and great shooting ability to find the target more often than not.

Chelsea have signed a lot of promising young stars under the new ownership. If they complete Roque’s signature, it would be analogous to how they have operated in the last few months.
