Barcelona remain pretty keen to sign Chelsea star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Chelsea star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could return to Barcelona with the La Liga giants almost certain of securing his signature.
And according to Joan Fontes, (h/t Football Espana), it is apparent that Barcelona wants to have the former Arsenal striker back as a backup to Robert Lewandowski.
At the tail end of 2021–2022, the 33-year-old had a fantastic run at the Spanish club, scoring 11 La Liga goals in six months. A second spell could now be on the cards.
Subsequently, Chelsea attempted to entice the Gabonese striker to Stamford Bridge. Unfortunately, Aubameyang was unable to sustain his Barcelona for us and has only managed to score one goal so far.
The striker also made it plain that he wants to leave Chelsea when he was seen rejoicing with his Barcelona colleagues after his team’s 2-1 La Liga victory over Real Madrid.
The biggest issue with Chelsea’s dismal runs has been a lack of goals. The Blues have continued to struggle in front of goal. As a result, they have lost a lot of games and are presently ranked 12th in the standings.
The Blues have used Kai Havertz in the number 9 role, but German has also remained ineffective in front of the goal, with seven goals in 29 Premier League games.
Barcelona will need to decide soon because we need to get rid of a lot of unnecessary players, and retaining Aubameyang should remain a top priority since doing otherwise would mean wasting the club’s money on an unnecessary player. Additionally, we should think about maintaining a fair asking price for him so that we lose little money when he departs.
Given that the club is contemplating giving Romelu Lukaku another chance and that we will also have Armando Broja if we are unable to sell him, we will have three strikers for the upcoming season.
