What Chelsea star Raheem Sterling thinks of Mikel Arteta amidst Arsenal interest
Raheem Sterling who worked under Mikel Arteta at Manchester City has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the 2023 summer window.
According to Football.london, Sterling, who is having a difficult season at Chelsea, has resumed training. He is anticipated to face Leeds United as the Blues seek to end their losing streak.
Asper the Express, Arteta is eager to reunite with Sterling and has already praised the player’s abilities from what he saw at Manchester City. A massive squad revamp that was supervised by Todd Boehly and Sterling is no longer a marquee player whose spot in the first XI is secure.
However, injuries have contributed to Sterling’s underwhelming performance this season, there are growing concerns over whether Chelsea is the best place for him to spend the remainder of his prime years. Sterling has only netted four Premier League goals so far this season.
In order to prepare for their comeback to the Champions League in 2023–24, Arsenal are looking to acquire players with experience in European competition. It is thought that Arteta is eager to reunite with Sterling and might provide him with a way out of Stamford Bridge.
The 28-year-old had previously lauded the former Manchester City assistant manager, saying in 2020:
“The manager trusted him here, and he had a lot of influence on the players here and the team as well.”
Though injuries plagued him during his time at Chelsea, Sterling is still a terrific player, and his wealth of knowledge will be helpful to us.
He has experience playing in the Premier League and is familiar with how leagues function. Potter should find a way to integrate him into the club because he is valuable.
Given that Arteta has already coached the former Liverpool player and can undoubtedly get the best out of him, selling him to Arsenal may turn out to be a mistake.
