Ruben Loftus-Cheek urges Chelsea to carry with the good form recently built
Speaking to the Official Chelsea website, Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has urged the team to carry on the good form that has been recently picked up.
After a run of bad results, that included a defeat at home to relegation-threatened Southampton and away to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea have won their last two games to restore some confidence.
While the win over Leeds United ended a barren run in the league, overturning a one-goal deficit to beat Borrusia Dortmund on Tuesday was the real confidence booster. They now have something to look forward to in the shape of the quarter-final of the Champions League.
Here’s what Loftus-Cheek said about the Dortmund win and how to build on it (h/t Chelsea website):
“It’s funny because we spoke in the dressing room before the game and we all had a funny feeling that it was going to be a good night for us.
“I think getting a win [against Leeds] in the game before definitely helped with morale and we just felt confident coming into this one.
“You put in a couple of good performances and get a couple of victories and suddenly everything is feeling a lot more positive. It’s given everyone a lift and we need to maintain that now.”
Winning is a habit that comes from making sure that when the form is turning on the positive side, the team is hell-bent on doing even better in the coming games.
While chasing fourth in the league looks like a lost cause, Chelsea should still take the league games as must-wins because the momentum created needs to be kept. Once that is done, then they would have the right mindset ahead of the quarter-final tie in the Champions League.
Moreover, there are other European places up for grabs via league positions. So, Graham Potter’s men are in no position to take any game for granted.

Whether those two wins were a flash in the pan or the start of something special, will be found out when Chelsea take the field against Leicester City on Saturday. A win there and the team would have the buoyed confidence to take on any team after that. In the meantime, we await the Champions League quarter-final draw!
