Potter confirms Chelsea superstar could return to face Everton following lengthy injury layoff

Chelsea boss offered his update on the team news ahead of the Everton game

Chelsea boss Graham Potter has confirmed that N’Golo Kante could play some part against Everton, while Raheem Sterling will miss the game due to injury.

Kante has been out since August due to recurring muscle injuries. The Frenchman has returned to team training in the last few days, hence there is a chance for him to be in the squad for the game on Saturday.

Sterling, who missed the Leicester City encounter last Saturday due to hamstring tightness, will continue to remain sidelined for this one. He was not selected for the England squad for this very reason as well.

Here’s what Potter said when asked about the team news (h/t Football.London):

“Raheem has a problem with his hamstring. It’s not too serious but he’ll miss the game at the weekend and he’ll miss the international trip. It’s the same for Mason. He has been struggling a little bit with his pubic bone. He wasn’t 100% in the last game and still isn’t quite there. So he’ll miss the England camp. Thiago [Silva] is still away. Azpi [Cesar Azpilicueta] is still away. N’Golo [Kante] has a chance of being in the squad.”

It is good to see the injury issues of the squad easing out as we enter the crunch part of the season. The hope is that they all come back fit and healthy after the international break and make one final push to make this campaign a memorable one.

While getting much out of the league will be tough, there is a real chance for Chelsea to win the Champions League. They face the toughest task of having to beat defending champions Real Madrid and one of Manchester City or Bayern Munich to be in the final. If we talk about run-ins, you cannot get tougher than this.

But, the focus, for now, should be on beating Everton and keeping the momentum alive after winning three games on the trot.

More Chelsea News:

It won’t be easy though, as Sean Dyche’s men are fighting for every point as they look to avoid relegation. They are a threat from set-pieces and defend very deep. Chelsea’s creative players will have to be at their best to break the Toffees down.
