Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has emerged as a star this season at Napoli, and his performance has drawn interest from Chelsea and numerous other top European clubs.
In anticipation of demand from teams like Chelsea and Manchester City, Napoli are planning to quadruple the forward’s wage, as per Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Football.London).
However, despite the present agreement with Kvaratskhelia not expiring until 2027 (Transfermarkt), President Aurelio De Laurentiis is expected to move quickly.
Less than one year after signing for Napoli, the winger has been predicted to clinch a move outside of Italy due to his outstanding performances. The Serie A leaders appear to be ready to do what they can to retain his services.
The 22-year-old has 27 goal contributions in 26 games across all competitions this season and has been a major factor in the team’s ascent to the top of Serie A under Luciano Spalletti. Additionally, Todd Boehly intends to continue investing during the transfer window, and Chelsea could do with a clinical player like the Georgian.
Since sealing his purchase of the club in May last year, the American billionaire has spent more than £600 million, but the results on the field have not been forthcoming so far.
Chelsea will have to dig deep into their pockets to even force Napoli’s hand on their prized winger. The player’s agent set the player’s value at €100 million (£87 million) back in November, a significant amount regardless of our financial backing.
Given his stellar season in Serie A, Kvaratskhelia will undoubtedly be a terrific addition, but Mykhaylo Mudryk, Christian Pulisic, and Noni Madueke already provide excellent depth on the left flank.
Given that Madueke and Mudryk are still young players and that Pulisic is also only 24 years old, the addition of the Georgian player will be unnecessary.
But if we decide to sell the USA internationally, then we may decide whether to sign Napoli Kvaratskhelia. However, if we truly want to buy an attacking player, then Boehly should choose a striker because we desperately need a seasoned striker who can prevent a lack of goals in the games.
