“He’s just not a number nine”- Kai Havertz slammed despite Chelsea’s win vs Leeds United

Former Tottenham defender Matt Dawson tells Chelsea not to play Kai Havertz as centre forward

After Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over Leeds United, the supporters, manager, and players all breathed a sigh of relief, despite the fact that there were numerous issues during the game.

Chelsea had numerous opportunities to win the game by a wider margin despite the Blues’ victory, which suggested the importance of a striker. This was Chelsea’s second win in 12 games thanks to Wesley Fofana’s first Premier League goal since leaving Leicester City in the summer was the deciding factor against Leeds in a badly needed victory.

Many people pointed the finger at Kai Havertz for missing a couple of opportunities that could have given the Blues an easy victory.

Matt Dawson feels Chelsea should stop playing Havertz in the false nine position.

The 23-year-old has only netted five league goals this year, the latest of which came in a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace in January.

The German International has participated in all but one league game so far, but in the last week, his participation has attracted criticism.

When speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Football.London), former Tottenham defender Matt Dawson was eager to point out why Chelsea shouldn’t play Havertz in the false nine positions, as he stated:

“Kai Havertz, he’s just not a number nine. He doesn’t want to stay between the sticks. He just roams about and he didn’t cause them any problems today.”

Kai Haverts has scored only four goals this season.

A new striker should really be one of Boehly’s priorities ahead of the summer transfer window due to Chelsea’s limited goal production.

Romelu Lukaku is set to return to Chelsea next season, but after his subpar campaign with us last year, it will be difficult to have confidence in him. Meanwhile, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s days honestly seem numbered.

It is seriously odd how we signed him from Barcelona last summer and within a few months’ time, he has been left out of our UEFA Champions League knockout rounds squad.

More Chelsea News:

Havertz almost always played as a No. 10 or as a right-winger besides centre-forward during his days at Bayer Leverkusen. He has never really seemed like a centre-forward and we must put him and ourselves out of misery by stopping with this experimenting. It’s frustrating and it could be wasting the career of a very promising player.
