“He’s very talented”- England U21 manager lavishes praise on Chelsea starlet after heroic display

Lee Carsley feels Chelsea have a talented youngster after Nouni Madueke’s performance for England U21

For England U21, Noni Madueke was the star as they defeated France U21 by a 4-0 scoreline. The 21-year-old recorded a goal and two assists during the game.

As Madueke entered the game in the 66th minute with England ahead 1-0, the game’s momentum completely changed as England looked nimble in attacks and Madueke displayed flashes of brilliance.

His performance has undoubtedly sent a message to Graham Potter and Chelsea supporters as they have a player who possesses so much skill. Although Madueke has had a decent time at Chelsea, he has featured barely at the club, making only four Premier League appearances.

Upon his debut against Fulham, he played against West Ham and Southampton before playing just six minutes in Leeds’ victory and joining the substitutes against Tottenham, Leicester, and Everton.

Yet, his performance against the France U21 team could have persuaded Potter to reconsider Chelsea’s upcoming game. And England U21 boss Carsley believes (h/t Football.London) Madueke will develop into a talented player if given the chance. He said:

“He’s very talented, he’s got a lot of potential, and I think given the opportunity, he’s going to keep developing into a top, top player, and we’re looking at his results.”

It is undeniable that Madueke excelled against the France U21 team, proving why he deserves to play for Chelsea in every match and giving Potter more trouble with his choice of the starting lineup.

He was also decent during Chelsea’s games, as he did not hesitate to take on defenders and frequently tested the goalkeeper. In his four games, he had seven shot-creating actions for the Blues.

He may not be getting enough time due to the fact that Potter would want to field a more experienced side, and if the youngster fails to perform he will certainly get criticised. Nonetheless, he can be used as a substitute to make an impact as he can add more agility and fresh legs to the attack, alongside Mykhaylo Mudryk.

Apart from Chelsea, the senior team manager of England, Gareth Southgate will also be keeping a watch on him, and if Madueke keeps up his current form, he will soon be making his England debut.
