Loan signing Joao Felix continues to be discreet over a permanent summer transfer to Chelsea. The 23-year-old has played in seven matches so far and has scored two goals for the Blues.
The Portuguese player has performed admirably since arriving at the club on loan from Atletico Madrid. There is a case for the Londoners to make the deal permanent
He was acquired by the Spanish club for £113 million from Benfica, and Atletico would likely demand a similar amount from Chelsea if they want to sign him permanently.
Felix has acknowledged that his decision to remain at the club will be based on Chelsea’s performance in the Champions League this year. The striker has already indicated he is enjoying himself more at the Bridge but he has made no comments on his return to Atletico Madrid.
Felix said when asked if he will stay at Chelsea once his loan spell at the club is over. (h/t Football.London):
“I’m not going to speak about clubs as I’m here with Portugal. I can just say that I’m enjoying my new life at Chelsea and I’m adapting well to this new chapter.”
The 23-year-old seems to have expressed his desire to stay at the club and is settling in smoothly at Chelsea, He has two goals to his name so far, but it does little justice to the excellent performances he has been putting in.
Felix has genuinely won over supporters and the owner, who should take steps towards making his loan transfer permanent in the summer window. After all, having him stay put will give us an excellent mobile forward, capable of causing concerns for opposition defences.
The club has greatly benefited from his signing; he thrives in the offensive position, and his rapid movements and quick decisions have enabled Chelsea to score more than two goals in each of their previous three games.
We hope this trade can be completed quickly, as he will be an important player next season, as Chelsea will certainly compete for all domestic trophies next season.
