“It was very harsh”- Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers unhappy with Chelsea’s 3-1 win

Brendan Rogers gives his verdict after Leicester City succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to Chelsea

Leicester City manager Brendan Rogers has revealed that he felt Chelsea’s 3-1 victory over the Foxes was cruel and that he was not happy with the way the Foxes played.

After their third straight victory, Chelsea maintained their mini-revival as they condemned the Foxes to their fifth straight loss.

The Blues were successful thanks to goals from Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic, and Ben Chilwell, earning three significant points. However, West London would have won by huge margins as Joao Felix and Mykhaylo Mudryk had goals ruled offside.

Graham Potter, who had been rumoured to be fired in recent weeks, is now under far less pressure as a result of this. After defeating Leicester, who had been having a difficult season and are winless in four games overall.

And this has increased the pressure on Rogers, who was angered by the loss and stated the following in an interview with the BBC:

“I thought it was very harsh on the players at the end. We gave away a disappointing goal from our perspective—all three, actually—but the first goal we gave away, we got ourselves back into the game with a good goal, had a good spell, and had chances throughout the game.”

Sure. We had 51% possession away from home, managed six shots on target to their seven, played more passes and had a better pass accuracy than them. Stats aside, watching the game made it clear that there was one side ruthless in front of goal – a statement very, very rare to hear in our context this season.

Leicester weren’t bad but given they were at home, it wasn’t a very special performance. We took our chances we took home a deserved three points.

We are now demonstrating promise in every area, whether it be defence, midfield, or attack. Every player has continued to play admirably, and goals are now starting to flow. This is hopefully an indication that we are regaining our lost standing in the Premier League and Europe.
