Graham Potter praises Enzo Fernandez as Chelsea down Leicester City
Graham Potter has been impressed by Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez and his performance against Leicester City. He believes the midfielder will get better match by match. Chelsea have thankfully won two Premier League games in a row now.
Three straight victories for the Blues across all competitions have relieved the burden on Potter and entirely changed the atmosphere in the squad. This augurs well ahead of the final push for the season.
After the 2-0 setback against Tottenham a few weeks ago, the situation appeared hopeless. But victories against Leeds United and Borussia Dortmund, followed by a 3-1 victory at Leicester on Saturday, have brought about optimism at Stamford Bridge.
At the King Power Stadium, goals from Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz, and Mateo Kovacic sealed the game for the Blues. The focus now shifts to Everton who will be keen to avoid relegation.
Fernandez, the Blues’ January signing, has also performed admirably in the matches, impressing Potter. Since his arrival in London, the Argentine has played in every game for Chelsea and has so far recorded two assists.
Potter was impressed by Fernandez’s performance, (h/t Mirror) and lauded him on his impressive outing. against Leicester City. He said:
“He’s a fantastic player, a young player.” I think he’s going to get better and better when he’s with us more.
“He’s just arrived in a new country and a new league, so you always have to adapt to that. You can see his quality; when he gets the ball, he passes it forward. He sees everything.”
It’s fantastic to see that Fernandez has adapted to the Premier League more quickly than we had anticipated and is already displaying his talent from the centre of the pitch. His ability to control the tempo and provide an outlet for inspiration in a crucial area of the pitch is game-changing.
If you’ve watched him play, you’ve probably noticed how he looks for gaps behind the defence of his opponents, his excellent flick pass to Kai Havertz which resulted in a goal is one of Fernandez’s traits that can help us create chances.

He has been capable of connecting well with other midfielders, which is something we have often lacked. We hope Fernandez can sustain his excellent performance in the Premier League and Champions League till the season’s end.
