Florent Malouda urges Chelsea to re-hire Jose Mourinho for a third stint at Stamford Bridge

Florent Malouda has advised Chelsea to appoint Jose Mourinho for a third stint should the Blues decides to sack Graham Potter ahead of next season.

Due to Potter’s failure to get the ball rolling, Chelsea have fallen to the 10th position in the Premier League standings, 11 points behind fourth-place Tottenham Hotspur. Chances of us making next season’s UEFA Champions League appears remote.

Three consecutive victories, though, relieved some of the burdens on the former Brighton boss. However, his job is far from secure and could be called into question should results flatter to deceive.

If Todd Boehly decides to fire Potter, names like Mauricio Pochettino, Roberto De Zerbi, and even Thomas Tuchel have been touted as potential replacements.

Jose Mourinho, however, is one of the most iconic coaches for the Blues, having led them to three Premier League titles. twice during his first term, and a third time during his second. He is one of the legendary names in the business and will be remembered for generations to come.

The Portuguese manager managed 320 games over his two stints with the Blues, recording 204 victories, 65 draws, and 51 losses. Malouda, the former player for Chelsea, has called for Mourinho to serve a third stint in charge, while speaking to DAZN (h/t Sun), he said:

“I could definitely see a third spell for Jose Mourinho at Chelsea. It’s home for Jose. He knows the club, the identity, and football, and the fans love him.”

With all that he has done for the Blues and the fact that we only had one trophy-less season under his management, Mourinho is also welcome to return to Chelsea for a third stint.

Signing him for next season would be meaningless and would not make sense, given that Boehly chose Potter because he believed in his project, and now the club has witnessed three consecutive wins, which suggests that Potter’s strategy is progressively yielding fruits. We feel he can bring about change. Players are also gradually finding their groove and developing chemistry throughout the matches.

But given that club managers have been sacked for failing to produce instant positive results, patience has not been exercised, and it is now time to be patient with him.
