Chelsea urged to join the race for “world class” 29-year-old superstar

In spite of Manchester United’s interest, Florent Malouda has advised Chelsea to sign Harry Kane

Chelsea have been pushed by Florent Malouda to compete with Manchester United for Harry Kane’s signature during the summer transfer window.

He has advised the Blues to make every effort to sign the prolific Premier League goal scorer in order to address their number-nine dilemma. Erik ten Hag’s team is “assured” that they can sign the Spurs star this summer. Malouda thinks Todd Boehly and co. should contend with Manchester United for his signing.

And Malouda believes that while Kane would undoubtedly fill the need now existent in the large squad, his addition could come at a high price for the ownership, which has already spent around £600 million on transfers in just two transfer windows.

The 29-year-old’s current deal is now in its last 16 months (Transfermarkt). As his team was humiliatingly eliminated from the Champions League by AC Milan on Wednesday night, his future became even more dubious, which could result in a decrease in his market rate.

Despite Tottenham’s mixed performances, Kane has continued to score goals like crazy this season and ranks among the highest scorers for Spurs all-time.

Speaking to DAZN (h/t Football.London), the former Chelsea player asserted that Chelsea need a striker and suggested that Kane may be a good fit for Potter, as he said:

“Chelsea should definitely join the race for Harry Kane. Kane is a world-class player who knows the Premier League, and this is an era where Chelsea need a striker with his goalscoring record and the ambition to win trophies.

Fans would be delighted if the club were to sign Kane because he will not waste any time demonstrating his knack for scoring goals. If we are successful in signing him, it will be a stroke of genius.

As the second-highest goal scorer in the Premier League, Kane has managed to remain a menace up front despite Spurs’ terrible season.

More Chelsea News:

Manchester United, like us, also need a striker after Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure last year. We have shown that we are ready to spend on largely unproven players (at least at the very top level) in January, so why not place the money on someone who is virtually guaranteed success?

Then again, Spurs’ rivalry with Chelsea could prove to be something of a stumbling block. Daniel Levy has proven to be a tough negotiation and it would be nothing short of a shock if he lets Kane join us while he is still contracted to them. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t test their resolve with a cheeky nine-figure offer.
