Former Chelsea winger and France international Florent Malouda has requested Todd Behly to make the signing of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) superstar Kylian Mbappe in the summer window.
Boehly and Behdad have invested around £600 million in the last two transfers to strengthen their squad, most of whom are youngsters. Malouda feels that his old team must make a bold acquisition of Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain in order to break yet another transfer record.
The 24-year-old’s hopes of winning the Champions League were once again shattered when Bayern Munich eliminated PSG from the competition.
Mbappe has less than a year and a half left on his contract (Transfermarkt). The former AS Monaco player has surpassed PSG’s all-time leading scorer and currently sits atop the list of top scorers for the current campaign with 18 goals in Ligue 1.
Yet, some would want Mbappe to now test himself abroad in arguably a more competitive division after the most recent Champions League failure. Malouda also stated in a DAZN Bet (h/t Football.London), interview that he believes Mbappe would be tempted by Chelsea’s most recent project, as he said:
“I’d like to see Chelsea sign Kylian Mbappe; I think we should go for top players like Mbappe. Especially when I see the amount we spend on others. It depends on his will to come to the club, but we should go for top players like him and build a team around him.”
At such a young age, Mbappe has already established himself as a player of the highest calibre, so it would be terrific if we could sign him. He is a talented player who can also play as a striker and can quickly strengthen our team by adding his offensive attributes.
Yet, there will be issues. One can rest assured that Les Parisiens will not make it easy for any team to sign their prized asset. He won’t be a small name on the wage bill either.
But this could be a one-time investment that could yield results year after year. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner arguably guarantees goals. To pair him with the likes of Mykhaylo Mudryk and Noni Madueke… we could have our front three sorted for, dare we say, the next decade.
It remains to be seen if Todd Boehly and co. will consider such a transfer. Hardly any team would say no to Mbappe if they could financially afford a player of his stature. If he is open to a move to SW6, then we should pull out all stops to bring him here.
