Chelsea handed major Moises Caicedo boost from Fabrizio Romano after contract renewal

Moises Caicedo signing new contract for Brighton Hove & Albion will not stop Chelsea from pursuing him

Despite Moises Caicedo signing a contract with Brighton Hove & Albion, Chelsea’s pursuit of Moises Caicedo will resume when the summer transfer window opens.

The Ecuadorian international has recently excelled for Brighton, solidifying himself among the best young players in Europe’s top five divisions. He would undoubtedly fit in nicely at a number of elite teams.

Because of this, the Blues began to chase the 21-year-old during the January transfer window, but the Seagulls were adamant about letting Caicedo go.

Caicedo has extended his contract with Brighton.

The Blues are expected to make another attempt to sign the 21-year-old in the upcoming transfer window, despite the fact that he recently renewed his contract with Brighton.

And Fabrizio Romano, a transfer analyst, pointed out the 21-year-old’s situation and stated that many prestigious clubs are eager to sign him. He said:

“I think top clubs will try again to sign him in the summer, contract extension helps Brighton for sure but doesn’t change the situation for the summer: top clubs will be there.”

After a challenging season, Chelsea may possibly still use some middle-of-the-field reinforcements. Graham Potter would perhaps profit from Caicedo if he joins Chelsea.

Chelsea will once again look to sign Caicedo according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Ecuadorian international was a reliable performer and thrived under former Swansea City boss Graham Potter, so if he joins the Blues, we will have a competent player in the middle of the midfield.

And the icing on the cake is that having already played for Potter at Brighton, he could able to adapt to 47-year-old’s coaching style swiftly in SW6.

N’Golo Kante’s future at Chelsea is up in the air, and Conor Gallagher and Mateo Kovacic have struggled to consistently perform in the middle of the field. Ruben Loftus-Cheek has not played in his preferred position, and Carney Chukwuemeka has not received a lot of playing time given his age and relative inexperience.

More Chelsea News:

Caicedo and Potter may get along well, and the former Seagulls manager may try to convince him to join Chelsea in the summer. But, given that he has extended his contract, Todd Bohely will once again have to spend lavishly, but who wouldn’t, given Caicedo’s stature?
