A View From The Bridge

“A difficult road”- Chelsea ace sounds out defiant message amidst exit rumours

Christian Pulisic sends a message to Chelsea amidst summer exit claims

According to Football.London, Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic has left a message for the club and Graham Potter ahead of the resumption of the season for the final stretch despite summer exit claims.

A few days ago, speaking to MyBettingSites (h/t Football.London), Italian transfer journalist Gianluca di Marzio tipped the USA international to leave the club in the summer window.

Pulisic was linked with a move away from Chelsea during the January window as well, but Chelsea boss Graham Potter confirmed that the USA international is not going anywhere.

Here’s what Pulisic wrote along with changing Twitter profile picture to one where he is holding the Champions League trophy won with Chelsea in 2021 (h/t Football.London):

“I’m just so proud to be here.

“It’s been a difficult road for me. I couldn’t imagine winning the Champions League ever in my life, and now I’m here.”

After seeing the Blues spend crazily in the last two transfer windows, it is time that they sell some of the existing players. Di Marzio thinks Pulisic is one of them. Here’s what he said (h/t Football.London):

“Chelsea buy players like they are sweets so I can see players leaving in the summer. Players will need to leave if they are to buy other forwards and strikers.

“It’s very easy to imagine that Christian Pulisic will leave in the summer. I think he will but I don´t know which club he could go to. I would love to see him in Italy and that could definitely be an option for him.”

A few days ago, Daily Mail reported that Chelsea could sell up to 11 players in the summer to trim the squad. Pulisic was on that list too.

At the moment, the squad is too big to handle. As a result, Potter had to leave Benoit Badiashile from the Champions League squad, while good players are not able to play regularly.

If he is leaving the club in the summer, Pulisic would be remembered for the key goal he scored in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final tie against Real Madrid in 2021. The Blues went on to beat the European giants and lift the trophy.

But, if the message he has sent is a defiant one where he is ready to fight for his place in the Chelsea setup, all the best to him on that. It will be tough for Potter to fit him in when we have Mykhaylo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling operating in positions he likes to play in.

Moreover, we are going to welcome Christopher Nkunku to the side in the summer. The Frenchman also plays in areas similar to Pulisic. If he wants to stay, fair enough, but the American may not get much game time here.
